Individual gamers and console makers could significantly reduce energy use from video games, according to study that identified the Nintendo Wii as the industry’s most efficient “juice sipper.”

Apparently games are wasting energy when they use their gaming consoles. The problem is that they don’t have to turn the machine off anymore, which means that it’s constantly sucking energy. Nintindo Wii has come up with a power saving mode that is about as green as it gets for gamers.

The original post at cnet shows a graph of power consumption by the most popular gaming consoles, and the wii is destroying the competition by saving the consumer $150 annually compared to the 2006 version of the playstation 3.
